Early November, we packed up the troops and headed due north;).
First stop:
Maggie had a follow-up appointment on her September seizure with her new set of doctors in the CP Clinic at St. Louis Children's Hospital. We realized, Evelyn was soooo little last time we had been to the hospital and Harper was BEYOND excited to show her what the sibling playroom was all about:), and their Daddy and I were excited to be "back to our roots" with Maggie at SLCH!
With the girls nestled in the playroom, Pete, Maggie and I, went to her first appointment.
She quickly made friends as this clown played "Twinkle Twinkle" on his banjo, while Maggie hummed the tune. It was pretty much adorable...
...thank goodness for the tickle monster {aka Daddy} to help pass the time between appointments- Mags LOVED it! And their unfailing bond pretty much makes my heart melt.
HE is her person. Hands down.
Sweet girl did SOOOOO well for the EEG, but I guess no news is good news. Scan detected no seizure activity or abnormal neurological behavior. We are to just keep monitoring her and keeping a close eye... crossing our fingers we don't see a seizure ANY time soon!!!
Then it was onto INDY!!!
Nana and Papa time HERE WE COME!!!
Tickling runs in the family.....
Girls were eating it up!!!! Love how happy they are to back with family. It gets more and more special as they get older... LOVE!!!
Pete and I even got out together one afternoon to pick up my FIRST (and probably my only;)- ha) half-marathon packet!!!
Getting sweet pictures while were out, like this, makes my heart happy.... they were LOVING Fall at Nana and Papas!!!
And then... the morning arrived....
Pre-race CHEESE!!!!
Months of training. Lots of sweat. Lots of soreness. Lots of funny "pump-up texts" between the two of us.... and we DID IT!!!
Us and thousands of others... lol!
Seriously though, we learned a lot about each other, this crazy sport, and what dedication is all about. We did it together.
We trained together (loved the "i'm dying" sweaty pics throughout the training;)).
We learned together.
We ran that day together.
We finished together.
Like crossed the finish line in the SAME second.
Done and Done.
We had the BEST cheering section. They all came out to see us and it meant the WORLD!!
Abby and I usually put on a brave smile and conquer, but I think at mile 10 we were coming unglued. Ready to be done, but we just HAD to finish together...
Pretty proud of us, sister. Thank you for inviting me to do that craziness with you. Bucket list item for sure...
but I think that was it... running through the city I grew up in, surrounded by family, alongside my sister and her husband... ya can't beat it;)....
Then it was back to the house for eating and resting... haha!
Mom decided to have an early Thanksgiving meal since we were all there. It was FABULOUS!!!!
Harper LOVED helping bake the pies....
...and I enjoyed being nestled up at the island chatting with mom as we prepared the meal altogether!
{Sisters and their boys;)}
{MY boy and I;)}
When it was all said and done, the young lads took over....
...as the girls worked on arts and crafts, visiting, and games....
Art teacher, Aunt Abby, was the PERFECT mentor as Harper completed her "disguise a turkey" project for school... LOTS of glitter, paint, and glue later- that turkey was a PEACOCK!! HA!
Thank you for your patience, Abby!!!!
{that little girl is RIGHT where she wants to be ;)}
Family time is the BEST time!!
We loved being back on Adios Pass. It had been WAY too long.
As always, it did not disappoint. Cannot WAIT to be back for Christmas!!!!!
