Happy Easter

So here we are, just 1 day away from our expected due date.... who would have thought we would have a 2 week old and be able to celebrate our first Easter as a family!

Not only were we able to celebrate as our family of 3, but my mom, dad, and sister were able to be here with us as well! We had a wonderful weekend together- despite the nasty weather- this rain has put a whole new meaning to, "April showers bring May flowers!!!

The Easter Bunny Came!!!

Harper was wide awake to see what the Easter Bunny brought her!

She got her very first Madame Alexander doll! I got one from my parents when I was a child and now Harper has hers (just her size AND dressed in a beautiful bunny outfit)- how perfect!

Thank you Nana for the beautiful doll.... what a perfect gift!

I of course had very high hopes of beautiful Easter pictures outside with all of us together... mother nature had other plans which led to our First Family Easter pictures taken at IHOP!

Aunt Anna with Harper and I

Thank you to Nana for Harper's beautiful Easter dress... she looked adorable in it!!!

Some quality time with Grandpa... I think Harper is in heaven ;)

All morning we kept commenting on how fluffy Harper's dress was- we loved it, but just couldn't figure out where her bloomers went?? It wasn't until we were about to take the last of the pictures that we realized her bloomers were still attached to the dress- ha! We had a great laugh... who needs bloomers anyways ;).

Happy Easter from our family to yours

We hope you all were able to spend this day in a warm place despite this wet weather- we love you all!!!

Better Late than Never :)

Well, I got out my camera today to get our Easter pictures and realized I never uploaded pictures from our time in the hospital- oops! Like I mentioned before, things have been a little screwy lately as I get used to life with our little one....

Without anymore chatter here are a few captured moments from our rather quick time spent in the hospital- gosh it all went so fast, but we wouldn't have changed a thing: the doctors and nurses were absolutely amazing, and the blessing of seeing my family just a few hours after giving birth was all I could have asked for....

I don't think it had sunk in quite yet what was going on... I was just told I was 7 cm dilated... and thought NO WAY!!!! Little Harper was ready to get the party started!

... I just kept staring at the monitor- watching her little heart beat- anticipating being able to hold and snuggle her soon!

... Pete leaned in for our last "Family of 2" Shot

Now, fast-forward about 4 hours and our little angel arrived at 8:33PM

Wow do I look exhausted. Truly do not remember much from this evening, but I do remember just holding and staring at our little miracle- our lives changed for the best that night....

Harper Grace Lee... mommy and daddy love you more than you will ever know....

Aunt Anna, Grandpa, and Harper

Seeing my family just made it for me- they were all so amazing with Harper... pretty sure she didn't touch her bassinet much in those first 24 hours ;)

Nana, Grandpa, and Harper

...what amazing parents I have- thank you for the tremendous support you gave me during those first couple days in the hospital- it meant so much to me!!!

My Favorites...

As much as I wanted them to, the nurses just wouldn't come home with me from Mercy- major bummer ;)...

Little did I know that I would be spending the week with someone better than those nurses...

My mother stayed the week with Pete, I, and Harper helping us every day balance our sleeplissness with crazy poops, crazier things that come with learning to breast feed, and always keeping our bellies full with great food, and laundry baskets empty while helping me every night work through all this crazy stuff when you're half asleep. I could not have made it through this week with so many smiles and happy memories if it wasn't for her....

Nana's Little Angel
by: Lindsay M. Moulton

Nana you are special
Your love knows no bounds
A room takes special warmth whenever you're around
You think I'm cute and talented and maybe even wise
But I know that's why all grandparent see through loving eyes
Every day with you is precious
I'm so grateful for the time
Of all the grandparents in the world
I'm thankful that you're mine.

Thank you mom for all of your help.... you made the first week with Baby Harper, a dream and I love you so so much...

She has found her thumb...

My postings won't always be so random, but geesh... this week lent itself to lots of randomness as we learned our little one....

1 Week Old Today

Our little angel is 1 Week Old Today!

I cant quite believe it... I keep thinking, last week at this time Pete & I were a barrel of nerves, listening to her little heart rate on the monitor, hoping the labor would be smooth, and dreaming of what she would look like.... and now, here she is- stealing our hearts with her coos, beautiful blue eyes, and scrunchiness- just love how she tucks her feet up under her and lies quietly on my chest...

Daddy and Harper

she definitely is a mini Pete- same eyes, same nose, same mouth- I just love it

Harper with Aunt Anna

I'm pretty sure she is the baby whisperer- she was an amazing help and Harper just loves their snuggle time

Thank you, Anna for being so wonderful with her- can't wait to see you soon!!

We spent some quiet time together.... ya, she's doing the scrunchy, curled up thing- I just love it

Harper and Uncle Aaron
(the man behind the lens of all these pictures- thank you)

Our time at the Hospital...

A few pictures from our time at the hospital....

Leaving the hospital...

means I had to say goodbye to the AMAZING staff at Mercy Hospital- eeek, that means they trust me enough with little Harper... have to say, the goodbye hugs I gave them were a little long.. I don't think I was quite ready to let them go!!!

We just LOVE the way she smells... never gets old

packing up and heading home!

I just love her.....

Again... thank you Aaron for capturing all these moments...

Making her formal Deput!!!

Our Little Peanut has arrived.....

The Story

Last Friday I went into my 37 Week appointment in high hopes that I was progressing with little Miss Harper. It had been a pretty good week full of work and finishing cleaning/organizing in anticipation for her her to arrive! Upon arriving at the appointment at 9AM Pete and I quickly realized that there would be no need for anticipating for very much longer! The doctor did my exam with a funny look on her face before pulling back to say, "Girl, you're 6 cm- feel like having a baby today?!" Pete and I looked at each other in shock, but as she finished her exam she said "Its time and she'll be here before midnight!"

Well, all of you know we well enough that my OCD was TOTALLY not prepared for this! I wasn't ready- or so I felt, and holy smokes I hadn't fully prepared myself for motherhood!!! This nervous energy went straight into a To-Do list for my loving husband Pete (who by the way was celebrating his 27th birthday!!!) and then they wheeled me up to labor and delivery. I was just sitting in that bed thinking, "What in the world is going on.... I don't even feel that bad", but just as soon as I was thinking that, I was checked again at 7 cm- just 1 hour later. The nurse thought it time for an epidural as Harper was kicking up speed to make her entrance! Although maybe her mind was ready, her body had other plans. Our very first parental scare came right after the epidural when her heart rate dropped from the cozy 14os all the way down to 50. With each contraction I had her heart rate dipped lower and lower. Pete and I just quietly watched as Dr's and nurses rushed around us trying to get our little angel to cooperate! The Dr. broke my water and adjusted me in such a way that Harper was content- so we were able to call off the dogs and I promise you I wasn't moving a muscle!!

Well, this particular Friday there were about 5 of us in labor all at the same time! Because of the small 'labor line' forming on the floor, I was pushed to 4th in line behind ladies that needed more emergent care. The nurse stayed with Pete and I most of my waiting time, but finally around 6 I was given some Pitocin to help Harper work her way through the last cm of dilation. With that came the dips in heart rate and she moved to a posterior position making it just about impossible to deliver her vaginally. The Dr. asked us if we wanted to continue to push with the stress on Harper or if we would like to have a c section; without a breath taken Pete and I both said c section.... we wanted her out of the stressful environment asap!!

So, although unexpected I did have a c section to deliver our beautiful, healthy baby girl!

Harper Grace Lee was born April 8, 2011 at 8:33PM weighing in at 6 lbs 7 oz and measuring 19 in long.

It was very emotional, hearing her little cry from beyond the blue screen, seeing her little feet in the air as they cleaned and checked her in the OR, and then definitely watching as they placed her tiny being in Pete's arms and he bent down so I could kiss her her forehead. I was a little bit of a mess, but wouldn't have it any other way... with this beautiful heartbeat there was just a small hiccup of surgery, but at that moment it did not matter in the least.... we were a family!

She has beautiful blue eyes and a mop of wavy brown hair...

and is most definitely already a Daddy's girl with his favorite moments being her wrapping her fingers around his....

pretty sure he never wants her to let go :)

I was so happy to be taking her home!!

Our precious little angel.... gosh I don't think Pete and I ever dreamt our hearts could be this full... she is our perfect little angel :)

I wanted to thank you ALL for the kindness and support you have shown our little family throughout these past 9 months. We have been so blessed and know that we would not be where we are today without all of you.

...and to my amazing brother, Aaron, for your patience and skill at taking these beautiful pictures- words can't describe how thankful we are for all these images....
