Growing up, my mom was committed to making Halloween a fun, no-scary holiday for my siblings and I. She always dressed up, outfitted her house, and had the best trick-or-treat house;). I want to be just like that when I grow up;)....
We have a few of our own little traditions keeping with the Halloween fun tradition:
{Gingerbread Haunted House}
...Maggie even got in on the fun, putting all the candies on the house- HA!
{Pumpkin Patch}
It was such a warm Fall, it was nice to head down to the local corn maze and pumpkin patch with kids...
playing in corn is THEIR JAM!!
...Maggie wasn't so sure about the hay ride- held Daddy's hand the whole way;).
Thing 1 on the tractor...
Thing 3....
and Thing 2.... they loved it!
{Pumpkin Carving}
Second year in a row our neighbors came over to get a little messy.... getting our pumpkins Halloween Ready!!
...kids had fun digging into the pumpkin guts, carving the smiles, painting the costumes on them...
...and eating the freshly-baked seeds!
Boo-Bags!!!
One of my favorite parts of this holiday is Booing our neighbors and friends;). Kinda like an appropriate ding-dong-ditch situation, the kids come to their door to see a sack of goodies and then they inturn do the same to another house. Here the kids are with one of their BOO- Packages- so fun!
Nana NAILS it again!!!
Each year, the girls ponder and hash out exactly what they're going to be for Halloween. Nana spends time researching alongside them to find the perfect get-up and dreams come true- ha!
This year:
Catalyst from Fortnite
The Muffin {Girl}
A Candy Fairy
...girls couldn't WAIT to unwrap the goodies once they arrived!!!
Harper's Catalyst mask was made special for her- she was SOOOOOO excited to be the very first!
Aunt Abby ALSO nailed it with her Happy Ghost Package of fun goodies- ha!!
Take 1: Trick-or-Suite at a local hotel... cool event put on just for special needs kiddos and their families!
Posing with Daddy in the Bayer room;)- they decorated the whole hotel suite to be a candy wonderland- Evelyn fit right in!!!
...and of COURSE we had to pose with the Star Wars crew outside their room!!!
Such a fun event!!! We love seeing so many familiar faces we've met with Maggie Lou, and the kids love walking through all the various outfitted rooms free and clear of the questionable Trick-or-Treating weather;).
The newest addition to the Halloween get-up, was this beauty Pete built for me! Forecast said possible snow, so I wanted to make sure trick-or-treaters knew I had some yummy goodness, even if I couldn't stand outside and yell it- HA! So grateful for friends who can write in all the fun fonts... was pretty excited to get that bad boy out front!!
Thank you, Pete & Jen, for helping bring this sign to life- I LOVED it!!!
Halloween Ready...
sweet treats and a few little-somethings to celebrate the day!!
...cheesing it up with their doughnuts
...followed by holiday parties!!
Catalyst wasn't allowed to wear her mask to school so she opted for some purple and blue highlighted strips;)... Fortnight lover for sure!!
Maggie sure did love HER first class party;)... loved fishing through the green water for all the halloween trinkets. Her hands were green for 2 whole days, but it was worth it- she LOVED it!!!
...and then it was time
Bring on the Jack-o-Lantern shaped pizza
...and all the friends;).
{Trick-or-Treat 2019}
Yvonne joined me to pass out warm apple cider, pumpkin spice doughnuts, and little treats for our neighbors. We saddled up, a bottle of wine between us, and had the best time greeting everyone that night. My sign did it's job though... we ran out of the yummyness an hour and a half in- OOPS!! I was a little embarrassed, but thrilled the neighborhood is growing like it is- I'll be ready for you next year, Otter Creek!!
Yvonne and I had the best time, but that next morning... it solidified this tradition in the making: I received a few sets of earrings and a sweet thank you note addressed to The Cider Ladies for being so festive. HA! Ya, I may be crazy, but it totally made she and I smile.... I think we'll do it up again next year for sure;).
Cheers to Halloween 2019!!
