Long Lake, Wisconsin.
A beautiful cabin lies there that has been a part of Pete's aunt's family for generations. He and I had the opportunity to visit the cabin years ago when we were dating and had a blast... we were thrilled to head back years later with the munchkins!
{Our first visit... back when we were youngins'... enjoying a quiet and relaxing trip to Long Lake}
{This years visit... a little different form of fun- no quiet, not the most relaxing, but full of fun and adventure with our munchkins!!}
On our way there!!
So cool that the lake house is only a couple hours away from our house in Minnesota!! Was the perfect amount of car time with the littles- of course a coffee/hot chocolate stop was in order!!
As soon as we got there Harper and Daddy dove into prepping the fishing poles while I made lunch for the troops!
While prepping, we got a knock at the door to find this sweet couple... living right next door to the cabin, they have been really good friends of Jane and Bill (Pete's family) for years. After their quick introduction, Mary and Dave let us know they had prayed for Maggie, her angel siblings, and our family when Maggie was born. I was taken aback and humbled by their excitement to see 'Miracle Maggie'. We chatted for awhile about Maggie's time in the NICU and the fun she has had post-NICU stay;). I was so touched to know Jane and Bill had shared our story with them those years ago, and extended our prayer circle all the way to Long Lake, Wisconsin.
After that visit, we all went down to the lake to see about some fishin';)...
It was still pretty cool and windy. Pete did a great job teaching the girls and I how to cast, but the fish just weren't biting! BUMMER!!!! The girls sure did love their matching Frozen fishing poles though!
After "fishing" we went for a walk around the property, checked out the sweet loft the Lees had put above the garage, and broke in some walking sticks we found. Kids were loving it...
...even Maggie was content outside listening to the critters of the woods and lake!
We grilled hotdogs and hamburgers, and later roasted marshmallows on the grill;)- it felt like the best lake day....
...until Pete found a tick on him- EEEEK!!
After stripping down and a good bath, we did the same with the girls, looking them over, but came up empty- Daddy was the only lucky one there- HA!
We tucked in the little girls and then decided to show Harper what lake entertainment was all about: we did a puzzle and then broke out the card games... she's a fan of WAR- HA!
All in all it was a great trip. We may have only been there for 24 hours but it was the perfect amount of time to soak up lake life with the rugrats! I'm thrilled we were able to go while we're living here in Minnesota- such a short drive.
Jane + Bill, thank you SO MUCH for letting us enjoy your lake getaway for a weekend. It was as beautiful and serene as we remembered it and the girls were hooked- they loved it all. Thank you for sharing it's specialness with us!
