Pete and I celebrated 10 years of marriage this year!!! I cannot BELIEVE it's already been 10 years. Feels like I blinked and we're this far in, but then again like SO much has happened in the last decade- HA!!
Well, we decided to take some time away together- push pause on our life for a few days, leave the babes with their awesome sitter, Kaitlyn;), and enjoy some sunshine and relaxation together. We hadn't been away just the two of us since our 5 year anniversary, and although a lovely trip we had in Key West, I was newly pregnant with Evelyn and not feeling the greatest...
this time around we were determined to do nothing but eat, drink, and lounge for a few days...
and that we did, in sunny Playa Mujuires at the Excellence Resort.
The view and weather were breathtaking...
...and our room was so sweet: the door draped with Happy Anniversary, and swan towels and roses on the bed;)
...even a sweet lounger on our patio
...and awesome critters everywhere. This guy, I named Fred, was so chill- Harper would have LOVED him!!!
Day 1
We showered up, dipped into the champagne, and enjoyed just walking around the resort.
...then headed to one of the restaurants, Magna.
Hands down the best surf and turf I've ever had in my life. We indulged that evening for sure- even got to meet the chef!
...then to the martini bar we went for some fancy cocktails and fun people watching- hehe!
Day 2
Our Actual Anniversary!!!
We were SUPPOSE to have a fun breakfast delivered to our room, but they somehow misplaced the reservation- oops! So we grabbed a quick breakfast at one of the restaurants, and Pete surprised me with a diamond necklace- the same size as my engagement ring- to celebrate our anniversary. I was shocked, but LOVED it as now I have 3 sentimental necklaces (that I do wear every day;)), that I'll be able to pass on to my 3 daughters- kinda special to me!
Anyway, following breakfast, Pete had booked a spa morning for us: aqua massage followed by a couple's massage. I am usually not one for relaxing enough so that I don't laugh through a massage, but I was game this time around- it was our special day after all- right?! Well, I was pleasantly surprised: the hydro massage was SO FUN!!! It was all different types of jets and water coming out of the pool at different pressures- loved it!! Afterwards, we enjoyed our massage together which was nice- although my sore muscles were definitely hollering as he worked those knots out!!
Afterwards, we spent the afternoon lounging on the beach before heading to a French restaurant on the resort- so yummy and first time I had french onion soup- YUM!!!
Day 3
Rain check breakfast delivered to our room- CHECK!!! It was yummy and fun to be waited on in our digs- ha!
Then back to the beach we went... wading through the ocean... back to our chairs... then back to ocean. We got used to that routine;)....
Then we showered up for dinner outside over the pools- it was so cool eating with the water lit up blue underneath us, BUT my stomach was aching and we didn't even make it though dinner before I needed to head up to the room.
Day 4: well, a good 10 hour sleep later I was feeling GOOD AS NEW!!!
Back to Magna we went to try out their breakfast- it was delicious...
...then suited up and went to the pool and beach to enjoy our LAST DAY!!
We HAD to play a game of Jenga poolside....
it was the first game we played together after we met- sort of an ice-breaker deal. It's special to us and was kinda fun in a major DORK way to play it together on this trip together!
Last Beach Day = Fun Drinks served in a Coconut- ha!!
...and to top it of, we had dinner on the beach- complete with a saxophone player serenading us as we eat- HA!
Felt like I was living in a dream world those few days in Mexico. It was amazing: the landscape was gorgeous, the food delicious, and having 4 days of uninterrupted time with my guy was pretty awesome. I keep saying it was unreal how many FULL conversations we were able to have... that NEVER happens- lol!
Happy 10 Years, Babe.
I am still head over heels for you and the life we've created together. Thank you for taking this pause with me, laughing, talking, eating, and drinking our way through this trip- most refreshed I've felt in a long while. Love you LOTS!
