Life isn't about the breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away...

Summer Days.....

This pretty much sums up our love of summer {thanks, Ms Niki;) for the pic}!  We are SO enjoying this summer filled with friends, staying out past bed time just 'cause, and LOTS of time outside!  Couple new things for little Ms. Harper...

Chore Chart and Summer Calendar!!!!  One of my fun memories from childhood was the handmade chore chart my mom made complete with the pencil hanging by a string I would use to mark off those chores with pride.  Harper just recently started talking about a toy she REALLY wanted and we talked about her saving her OWN money to earn that toy... I have to teach her sometime- right? ;)  Anyway, I spent a Sunday diving into teacher mode making her chore chart as well as a weekly 'agenda' for my child who is constantly asking "What fun things are we doing today, Mommy?"  We are a few weeks in and we're slowly getting the hang of it... and who am I kidding- I'm loving the help around the house!

Little Miss also started on an actual soccer team!  She's loved the soccer classes at school, so we decided to give a team sport a shot.  We held our breath and crossed our fingers she would at least go out on the field as she becomes a leg magnet in most large group settings- ha!  Well, she took off for that soccer field and hasn't looked back.  She is running CONSTANTLY on the field... now we just have to figure out how to get her to run TOWARD the soccer ball.  Her coach is amazing and she continues to make us smile watching her tiny self high-fiving her coach and learning all the soccer lingo!

We were without a couch for a bit so we decided to make do with OODLES of blankets most days- kids loved it... Mom & Dad- our rears were ready for the comfy couch- happy to say we are back in business this week- never loved having a couch more!

We've been lovin' our time with Ms. Riley... little Evelyn has even enjoyed her first couple playdates;)!
The littlest sister is getting BIG!!  3 Months Old and she's keeping up with her sisters quite well.  I am happily admitting this is my FIRST baby that seems to be a Mama's Girl.  She has the sweetest, biggest smile ever, but take her away from her Mama and oh goodness GRACIOUS you will hear about it!  I call her my baby bear as she wrinkles up her brow and makes a sound very much like a bear if she's ever left alone... we've just started trying to get her sleeping in her bed- almost a week in and for the most part it's going well- thank goodness!!!

...I mean it about that smile though- she melts my frustrations away when she smiles up at me.  She has started babbling and will talk to anyone who will listen.  She's not a fan of tummy time quite yet, but is lifting her head and LOVES her swing.  Her favorite activity: watching her sisters play.  Makes a momma's heart happy watching her little ones together- love it!
Speaking of sisters, the bigger sister is doing well.. getting bigger and stronger every day!  Maggie is becoming more comfortable when supported to sit.  We are THRILLED she is eating just about everything, just isn't up for the challenge quite yet of feeding herself.  She still loves her bouncer and rolling around on the floor with her sister.  She has started saying mama (very rarely), but as SOON as she hears her Daddy the dada's begin- the child LOVES her Daddy!!

...did I mention how AWESME it is to watch them all playing together.  I love watching Pete down on the ground goofing around with the girls- no one gets Maggie to squeal in delight quite like him- it's precious.  Another precious moment: Harper playing with Maggie.  I caught her on camera as she was saying, "I'm helping Maggie to sit, Mommy.  It's ok Maggie- I'm right here"... love them together!!

A friend of mine, Loria, began a concept called 'Learndates' with a few moms in the area.  Each mom plans an activity with a specific educational component.  I was crazy excited that she asked me to be a part and we have enjoyed our Learndate Wednesdays for sure!!  The first one, planned by Loria, was to the local television station, KNWA.  The kids were able to tour behind the scenes, meet the staff, practice being 'on set', and learn all about how the news comes to be!

Harper was a bit shy at first as she took it all in, but I have to say- SHE LOVED it and broke out of her shell as she hung out at the anchor desk with her friends!
I actually was the lucky one to follow that AMAZING learndate- pressure was on- ha!  I decided to teach the kiddos about how plants grow and their importance- specifically a vegetable garden.  Gave me a chance to put a shout out to the husband and the incredible job he has done with out backyard garden!

I have to admit... it was crazy fun to be in teacher mode again, prepping activities and teaching the kids with a couple fun activities: we 'dug' for puzzle pieces to learn about growing plants, then 'picked' vegetables from a vegetable garden, popped a squat to have some Dirt Pudding, and I was able to send the kids home with a tree to help their dad's plant for Father's Day.  It was fun and dirty- that's what it's all about- right?!
This week, my friend Mary led a learndate all about baking.  She is a magnificent baker, and it was no surprise she taught 17 CHILDREN how baking works, and showed them how to make homemade cupcakes with HOMEMADE frosting at her home- so fun!!

I am just starting to get out a little more sans kiddos... it's been fun!!  I had my own little 'learn date':), learning to make vegetable rolls with some friends.  Don't know how good I was at it (the wine made me feel like a pro:))- ha!
Thanks for the invite, Kathleen!!  Good times!!!

...and the hubs and I even got to a concert to kick off the summer!!

...the best part though- time spent with friends and family.  We're loving those summer evenings hanging out together and spending time as a family.  Our neighborhood as truly come alive this summer- kids all out together, sharing toys, goofin' off, taking a load off with a juice box (or 2:)), and rolling back home around 8 in need of a hose down- ha!  TRULY LOVING IT!!!  I am trying HARD to slow down the tempo of our days and let the babes enjoy their summer!
 Happy Summer here we come!!!
