Thanksgiving Break greeted us with our first Minnesota snow!!! It wasn't a ton, but it was something....
...enough for Daddy to break out his new toy;)- ha!!!!
Two of the munchkins were able to break in their snow gear as well!!! Evelyn was SOOO excited to get out there, and Harper was more than ready to show her the ropes with the white stuff! And Mr Norman eat his fair share- ha! I swear both labs we've owned love to eat snow- at least Norman doesn't throw it up on the rug- ha!
It was soooo cold, so we spent the rest of Thanksgiving prep from inside. Evelyn loved watching Daddy shovel everything- so cute!
I chalk-painted my second piece of furniture for the house (I swear that stuff is addicting- ha) a table for the entry way!
Thanks for finding this bargain of a table, Mom- it's perfect!!!
Girls and I discovered homemade hot chocolate- YUM while I introduced them to the Macy's Day Parade!! Had great visions of watching the parade with them- enjoying the floats and singing. They did sort of like it, but truly loved the dog show that followed even more- LOL!
Daddy prepping, and goofing off with, the turkey- ha! This man knows how to prep the bird! I printed out a recipe for a rub, but Pete simply read it through once, and then did his own thing- despite the odd grouping of foods and flavors he combined- it was yummy- hehe!
{a couple pics to document that even though we weren't hosting the day of Thanksgiving, we still didn't eat in our jammies- hehe}
Wishbone- Harper got it!!!
Missed family on this special day, but grateful to chat and FaceTime with them all...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Following the meal, Pete actually bundled up, list in hand- and went Pre-Black Friday shopping. I couldn't believe it, but he was beaming ear to ear when he got back and so excited to show me his loot- hahahaha!
"Pete, I thought we only needed one of those?"
"Babe, it was so exciting- everyone grabbing stuff, we HAD to get 2."
HAHAHAHAHA
That was enough Black Friday shopping for us! The rest we did online, so we could add a little bit of Arkansas to our week!!! We sooooo enjoyed lunch with the Lunde family in southern Minnesota. We missed them so much. I am pretty sure Beth and I could hardly eat we had so much to talk about. And Anna and Harper: totally psyched to see each other prior to being there...
...and then stared at each other for an hour as they eat pizza- lol! Of course they were chatting it up right before we left though- such goofballs!!
Thank you for meeting us, Lunde family. Miss you SO much and can't wait to visit again- hopefully back on your turf;)!!!
And then, to seal the weekend as amazing- my brother and sister flew in for a visit!!! Uncle Aaron came for a night before returning to California and Aunt Anna stayed for a few days!!!
Harper was stoked!!!!!! She could hardly contain herself and wouldn't let those two rest for anything!! So much fun;).
Cuddled up on the couch watching Christmas movies. I am SURE it sounds so cliche, but sharing our home with family is just the BEST. I love putting the house together and decorating, but being able to have family and friends over to enjoy it with- oh man- so so perfect!!!
{Home Alone AND popcorn AND sprite with Aunt Anna...almost like their little tradition whenever they're together;)}
{silly times together}
What an incredible Thanksgiving weekend it was. Originally so bittersweet thinking of spending a holiday without extended family, but between the snow, friend visits, and weekend with the sibs, I think it turned out pretty nicely!!!
Holidays are so much fun! I am always crazy, planning them all and then spending my time trying to execute it all... I am working hard at slowing down a bit and enjoying the stuff that isn't planned. Sometimes less is more, and that week proved it- 5 days home with the fam MAY have been a little crazy- ha- but it was worth it. Harper keeps telling me how she's building memories- so many special moments lately, she says. I think sometimes the best of those are the unscripted ones...
